[ Video ]

[ When Ash turns on his video in the morning to show him and his buddy Pikachu perched on his shoulder he looks... tired. It takes a sound from Pikachu in order to even realize that his journal was already on and that he had been staring blankly into the screen. With the small realization he pulls together a smile and gets down to talking. ]

Uh... Hi. I'm Ash and this is my buddy Pikachu.

[ He's calm. Perhaps a bit too calm to people who knows him when he speaks. If it isn't noticeable right then and there it will be when he started talking again because while there is some enthusiasm it's nothing like what it normally is. ]

So Friendship and Rival Day is comin' up on June 28th and I wanted t' have a party to celebrate. Some people gave me ideas like battles, movies, video games, and other kind o' things that people can do with old friends and new friends. There's gonna be a lot of food there too.

But thing is my friends Cilan and Chili can't make all the food on their own. I was wonderin' if people could make or bring food and drinks to Friendship and Rival Day. Maybe some other things like more video games or other kinds o' games t' play. Or anythin' else we might need for it.

Also, I'm wonderin' where would be th' best place for it. Someone said th' Battledome would be a good place. Is that okay or does anyone have a better place in mind. If there isn't and the Battledome isn't ok I think it could happen at th' house I'm stayin' at.

If y' have any questions or somethin' I wanna hear 'em. I'll also be 'round Luceti checkin' some things out so y' can always come talk t' me too.

[ He pushes a bigger smile and a little more enthusiasm into this last bit. ]

[ Although Ash should probably still be resting he can be found in several places around Luceti with, of course, Pikachu. Most notably he'll be checking things out at the Battledome and also going to several of the places to eat such as Seventh Heaven and the Bakery. He can also be found at the fountain resting or maybe trying to figure out what to do next and can't forget any stores that would have things for parties.

And lastly he can also be found back at House 11. Either in the Kitchen eating food, in his room doing well.. whatever probably letting his true feelings out, or just lying around the house because he knows that, as much as he would like to get back to training, doing so would probably result in certain people coming out and telling him to stop because Ash no your body and mind are not ready for this yet you shouldn't even really be out wandering Luceti all day. ]

But you're Appa's friend anyways, right? [ Because friendship is what matters here ]

Momo and Foo Foo Cuddlypoops sound cool. But why does Momo say bad thing about your in your dreams? And why did y' try and eat th' other one? And it gets ten feet tall? That's really huge and bigger than most of th' Pokemon I've ever seen.

Of course I'm friends with Appa. We go back a long way. Ah, the good old days. [Sokka sounds oddly nostalgic just thinking about meeting Appa, even if he wasn't wowed by him at first sight.]

As for Momo, well... [Okay, how does he describe this?] He's just a troublemaker sometimes. I guess that's his nature.

And I wanted to eat the moose-lion because I was hungry. I did all of the hunting while we traveled, and it certainly looked like food. How could I have known it was just a baby and would grow ten feet tall?

So most of your Pokémon creatures are all different types then? What's the biggest Pokémon that you know of?

Sounds like you've been friends with 'im for a long time. I'm glad to hear it. [ Long-time friendships are always a good thing. ]

Oh, I think I get it. Some of my friends are troublemakers too.

I... guess that makes sense?? [ He never thinks like that (except for making once when he wanted to eat magikarp but that was back in Kanto and that time was a strange one). ] But it's a good thing y' didn't eat 'im in the end!

Yep! They all come in all shapes and sizes. And all kind o' types too like water, grass, and fire. But the biggest Pokemon... that's hard. I guess it would havta be one of the legendary Pokemon I've met. Or maybe Wailord.

Yeah, I guess I'm glad Foo Foo Cuddlypoops is around now too. He at least is pretty friendly. [He says this with a little reluctance, even if he is still glad that he's around.]

Hmmm... so it sounds like your Pokémon things are really just regular animals, all things considered. Even if they are just weird animals.

But... you have Pokémon made of grass and plants? Grass isn't an animal?

I don't think Pokemon are weird. [ That's because you're from a Pokemon World Ash please. ] But I dunno if they're really regular. They're nothing like some o' the animals I've seen here.

Grass Pokemon aren't made out of grass and plants! Here, I'll show you one. [ And he'll take out a pokeball which, when opened, unleashed none other than Snivy. ]

This is Snivy. She's a grass type Pokemon but that's just her type. Accordin' to the Pokedex she's the Grass Snake Pokemon.

[ ...... Which could still imply she's made of grass but no she really isn't. ]

It's not like the animals here are any less weird to me. They have plain foxes, raccoons, and owls. They don't have any turtle-ducks, cat-owls, or polar-bear-dogs!

[So Ash's ability to make creatures come out of these red-and-white balls borders on magic to him. Never mind that Snivy has a leaf growing out of its tail, nor would Sokka think it looks like a snake at all. He's interested in the weird stuff.

He's literally holding the book closely as if that would give him a better view.]

How did you do that? What sort of magic ball is that!?

They don't really have any Pokemon either. All th' Pokemon I've seen is from other Pokemon trainers.

[ Which actually doesn't bother him too much because hey that means he can battle them and talk to them about Pokemon etc etc!

And they would actually know what he's talking about no less. But wow Sokka you're kinda of close to your book there.... ]

Huh? This? [ Holding up the Pokeball ] It's called a Pokeball. It's what we use t' capture and carry our Pokemon.

You carry your Pokémon around in little balls?

Wouldn't that be a little... cramped?

I dunno how it really works. But most Pokemon I know don't seem t' mind it.

[Clearly, Sokka is going to have to watch this practically firsthand to see how they work, but that does intrigue him. He crosses one arm across his chest while the other is raised to put a finger on his cheek.]

Huh. I'm sure there's got to be a perfectly good reason how they work then. If only there was a spare one around to tinker with.

[Of course, he is talking about a world where strange magical creatures like Appa are practically commonplace. So whether or not he could ACTUALLY figure them out is another matter altogether.]

I have half of a Pokeball. It doesn't work [ duh ] but y' can take a look at it sometime if y' want.

[He also has Pikachu's Pokeball but even though it's never used he doesn't want Pikachu to accidentally be 'released' as a Wild Pokemon or anything. That is a Do Not Want. ]

Yes I'd love to take a look! [Seriously there's excitement coursing through him suddenly at the very thought of it. A chance to do some engineering!]

[However, a thoughtful look comes across his face as he recalls something.] Didn't one of your friends--or at least one of you trainers--mention about breaking one of those things? Without seeing it, I can't promise anything, but...

... Yeah. [ He has heard about it and glimpsed at the message but it was too much for him so he never responded. ] This one didn't break like that though. This one never had a Pokemon inside it either. It was just a Pokeball my friend and I accidentally broke while we were fishing before we became Pokemon trainers.

[ And that incident causes a rift between their friendship for a while but it's a really nice keepsake now. ]

[In the back of Sokka's head, the odds of actually figuring out how to fix the one Poké ball using just a scrap of an existing one is certainly a long shot, but at the very least having this one would not only give him something to do but also be a necessary possible first step to reverse engineering the thing.]

Well, at least it wasn't worse. You must have better luck than me. Still, knowing how they work is half the battle, right?

Just don't give whoever it was any false ideas that I can fix everything tomorrow.

[He's usually not super optimistic about things, but he remembers his time at the Northern Air Temple faced with a number of half-solved problems, and he can't help but want to give it a shot.]

Nah, it's okay. I don't expect y' to fix it or anythin' since it's missing a half but maybe it could at least give you some kind o' idea of how it might work from looking at it on the inside. And I can try 'n help a little with the other Pokeballs I have.

[ Though you can't look inside though maybe seeing how Pokemon go in and out of them could be helpful?? And that Pokeballs have two sizes. ]

[Oh do NOT get Sokka started on the two different sizes of Poké balls. You would not want to see that. Or maybe you would. If you enjoy seeing Sokka's deadpan sarcasm.]

Well, yeah, I probably can't fix yours. But figuring out how the insides work? Well, leave that to Sokka!

[ WELL once Ash shows you a Pokeball in person and enlarges one then it might just happen whether he wants it to or not! ]

[Yes, the moment Ash shows Sokka his enlarged 'balls, well... there will certainly be a reaction.]

[Give him the details! He's already on his way. Because Sokka's pretty much on the very edge of town as it is. It'll take a small bit. But he certainly leaves his journal open so that he can figure out where to rendezvous with Ash.]

Let's meet at th' square I think that'll be easiest.

[ Since they both know where it is and all. Ash is pretty much walking out the door as he speaks and makes his way to the square. ]

[It takes Sokka maybe ten minutes or so to get there; that's one of the small disadvantages to being on the outskirts of town, but that can't be helped. It not like he's actually all that used to city life anyway, and it's not like it's Ba Sing Se. So Ash is almost certainly going to beat him there.

Sokka will be approaching with his book wide open and opened to the picture with Ash's page so that he might recognize him. And once he spots him, he'll head on over and give him a wave from afar.]

[ Once Ash gets there he waits with Pikachu until he notices Sokka and gives him a wave back before heading to close the gap between them. ]

Hey!

[Sokka closes the book and grins.]

Hey, Ash!

[However, for more than a few moments, Sokka's attention is drawn towards one electric rodent. He comes in for a closer look, studying it from at least two angles. That is certainly the intriguing little critter. He gives a half-look at Ash.]

And I guessing this is your Pikachu?

Yeah! This is Pikachu alright.

[ Pikachu nods his head and gives his own greeting. It's good to see you in person too, Sokka. ]

Should I release my other two Pokemon from their Pokeballs first?

[ That way Sokka can meet them in person and also see how the Pokeball works in that respect. ]
